* the original slogan was Geriatric Rock and Roll *
That sounded better than 'Geezer Band'
Rock of Ages was formed in January 1998
by six veterans of bands that played around
Decatur in the 60's and 70's. The concept
was simple: create a Top 40 cover band to
perform the classic songs of our era. We
even had a Mission Statement (groans from
the band members) that said our mission
was to have people who heard us say: "You
guys are good and you have a lot of fun."
Our Music
Songs are selected to make you want to
get up and dance or sit and listen and sing
along. We feature lots of group vocals
from Classic Motown to Beatles, Stones
and even a few novelty songs just for fun.
"You're Never Too Old to Rock & Roll"
We have changed some members over the
years, but have evolved into a more
versatile group with some new sounds,
including female vocals for the "girl groups"
and some of the sounds of the later 70's
and 80's, augmented by additional sounds
from flute, harp (OK, harmonica), and
groups such as the Eagles and Journey.
Check our song list on Our Music page.
